Tomahawk, T-bone or cowboy steak?
All three are big bone-in steaks for sharing. A tomahawk is a ribeye with the whole rib bone left long and scraped clean. A cowboy steak is the same bone-in ribeye with the bone trimmed short; we sell the tomahawk rather than a cowboy cut. A T-bone comes from the sirloin end: sirloin on one side of a T-shaped bone and a smaller piece of fillet on the other. Our T-Bone Steak 500-600g is 21-day matured and sold frozen, one hungry plate or a share for two. All our giant steaks sit on The Big Steaks.
How to cook a T-bone steak
Thaw it fully in the fridge first. Pat it dry, season it well and lay it in a smoking-hot heavy pan for 2–3 minutes without moving it, then flip it for another 2–3 minutes, basting with butter, garlic and thyme. Stand it on the fat edge for 30–60 seconds. The fillet side cooks faster than the sirloin, so tilt that side off the heat if it is ready first, and probe the thicker sirloin: about 52°C for rare or 57°C for medium-rare. Rest it for 5–6 minutes. Full method: T-bone steak in the pan and how to cook T-bone steak.
Bones for bone broth
Do not throw the bone away: roast it and add it to the stockpot. For a proper batch, our 1kg Beef Bones are sold frozen for making your own stocks, broths and gravies. Roast them first for a richer flavour, then simmer them on the hob, in a slow cooker or in a pressure cooker.

Where can I buy a tomahawk steak?
Right here: our Tomahawk Steak 800g-1.2kg (Frozen) is sold frozen and delivered by DPD next-day, free on orders over £85.
What is a tomahawk steak?
A bone-in ribeye cut from the fore-rib with the long rib bone scraped clean. It eats like a very thick ribeye steak.
How do you cook a tomahawk steak?
It is too thick for a pan alone: reverse sear it (low oven, then a very hot pan or BBQ) or sear and finish in the oven, and use a thermometer. Full method and times in how to cook tomahawk steak, with core temperatures in our steak doneness chart.
How much is a tomahawk steak?
The current price is shown on the product above and updates with our offers, so it is always the live price.
How do you cook a T-bone steak?
Thaw it fully, pat it dry and season it, then sear it in a smoking-hot pan for 2–3 minutes a side, basting with butter. The fillet side cooks faster, so probe the sirloin side: about 52°C for rare or 57°C for medium-rare. Rest it for 5–6 minutes.
How do you prepare a T-bone steak?
Thaw it completely in the fridge (ours is sold frozen), take it out 20–30 minutes before cooking, pat it dry and season it well with salt and pepper. Use a big, heavy pan or a hot BBQ, and have a thermometer to hand, because the fillet and sirloin sides cook at different speeds.
Where do you get bones for bone broth?
From a butcher. Our 1kg Beef Bones are sold frozen for making stocks, broths and gravies at home; roast them first for a richer flavour.
What is a cowboy steak?
A thick bone-in ribeye with a short, trimmed rib bone. A tomahawk is the same cut with the whole rib bone left long; we sell the Tomahawk Steak 800g-1.2kg (Frozen).
