Monday after a roast, people either live on sandwiches or they panic-order another joint. Neither is required. Eat the leftovers on purpose, then restock the weekday cuts you actually used up: mince, chicken, a pan steak or pork. Sunday roast can wait until Wednesday’s click for next weekend. Lean Beef Mince 400g and Chicken Breast 1kg are the typical holes. Pork Loin Steaks 4x 135g is a midweek pan if the roast was beef and you want something else.
Leftovers first
Cold beef or lamb with salt, a fry-up of leftover potatoes, a pie if there is enough. That is Monday and maybe Tuesday. Do not freeze leftover roast unless you already like it frozen. Shop minced beef when the leftover meat is too thin for another full meal but you still want a sauce night.
Restock holes, not the Sunday
Look at what you cooked in the week before the roast. Those packs are what ran out. Bacon, sausages, chicken thighs. A second topside on Monday is how you live in Sunday forever. Next joint later in the week, when you know how many people are coming.
If the roast was a 4–5kg sirloin, you may not need a meat shop until Thursday. If it was a 1kg topside, you need chicken tomorrow. Weight decides the restock, not a habit of ordering every Monday.
A small treat
A 2x steak for Wednesday is a civilised bridge. It is not a roast. Keep the ideas apart and the week tastes like a week, not like a hotel carvery that never ended.
Write two columns: leftover meals, shop meals. Fill leftover first. Click only the shop column. That is the post-roast order, and it stops the fridge filling with two joints and no mince, which is the classic British hangover of a successful Sunday.
Keep a cheap probe in the drawer and use it once so you stop guessing. A rest on a warm plate does more for juice than another five minutes of heat. Buy the pack again only if this one left the freezer as dinners, not as a frozen brick with a good name. That is as true of Planning the Shop After a Sunday Roast as of any other pack we send out of the cutting room. Cook it like the cut it is, and it will earn the next click.
Label leftovers with the cut and the day. Anonymous tubs are how good meat becomes a mystery you throw away. Reheat once, gently, with a splash of water if it looks dry, and eat it as a second meal rather than a punishment.
