Fresh 5kg Chicken Breast Fillets

Updated 30 September 2026

What's the best way to buy meat online in the UK?

Pick an online butcher that tells you exactly what is in the box, what it weighs, what it costs per kilo, how it is kept cold and where it is packed. That is how we run Meatsupermarket.com. We are an online butcher at Gwindra Industrial Estate, St Stephen, St Austell, Cornwall. We pack every order in an insulated box with ice packs and send it with DPD to most of mainland UK. Weekday delivery is free over £85 (£6.95 under), with no minimum order.

What to check before you order from any online butcher

Whoever you buy from, run through this checklist first. It is the quickest way to tell a proper butcher from a warehouse reseller.

  1. Named cuts and weights. "Steak pack" is not enough; you want "Sirloin Steak 2x 6oz" or "Brisket Joint 1kg", so you know what you are cooking and how many it feeds.
  2. Price per kilo. Pack prices hide a lot. Work out the £/kg (or £ per steak) and compare like with like.
  3. Fresh or frozen, clearly labelled. Both are fine, but you should know which you are buying before you pay. Ours say "(Frozen)" in the product name where they are sold frozen.
  4. How it is kept cold. Look for insulated packaging and ice packs, and a named courier with a delivery window.
  5. Clear delivery charges. Check the free-delivery threshold, the weekend charge and whether there is a minimum order.
  6. A real address. A butcher you can find on a map is a butcher you can hold to account.
  7. Independent reviews. Read recent reviews on an independent site, not just the testimonials on the shop's own pages.

How our meat delivery works

Packing: your order is picked and packed at our Cornwall unit into an insulated box with ice packs, so it arrives chilled.

Courier: DPD is our courier. Deliveries run between 7am and 10pm, though most arrive between 8am and 6pm, and you choose your delivery day at checkout.

Charges:

  • Weekday delivery: free over £85, £6.95 under.
  • Saturday delivery: £8.95, or a £3.95 surcharge on orders over £85.
  • Mainland Scotland and the Highlands and Islands: weekday delivery free over £80 (£6.95 under); weekend delivery a flat £11.99.
  • No minimum order value.

Restricted postcodes: some Scottish postcodes are weekday-only and a few are not covered yet. The full list is on our delivery and returns page.

Bulk packs, meat boxes and deals

Buying online makes most sense when you fill the freezer. Our bulk buy meat range covers big packs of chicken breast, mince, sausages and steaks. Meat boxes and hampers list every item inside, and meat deals are the offers running right now. Building your own order? Start with beef, chicken, pork or lamb.

Why buy from an online butcher rather than a supermarket?

A butcher sells meat by the cut, not by the tray. That means you can buy a whole leg of lamb for the Sunday roast, a rolled brisket joint for the slow cooker or a steak in exactly the thickness you want, rather than whatever is on the shelf that day. Buying direct also cuts out the middle of the chain: the meat goes from our counter into a box and on to the courier.

The other big difference is choice of pack size. Supermarkets mostly sell meal-sized portions; an online butcher can sell you a single steak, a family pack or a freezer-filling bulk pack from the same cut, so you pay less per kilo when you buy more. And if you are unsure what to buy, our butchers near me page and cooking guides explain the cuts in plain English.

Fresh or frozen: which should you buy?

Fresh meat is best if you are cooking in the next few days or want to portion it yourself before freezing. Frozen packs are handy for stocking up and often cost less per kilo. Either way, freeze or refrigerate as soon as your box arrives, and defrost frozen meat overnight in the fridge, never on the worktop.

Tips for your first online meat order

  • Clear freezer space first. A 5kg pack of chicken breast needs more room than you think.
  • Top up to the threshold. Adding a pack of sausages or lean mince to reach £85 usually costs less than the delivery charge.
  • Choose a day you are in. Pick a delivery day when someone can bring the box straight in.
  • Portion before freezing. Split big packs into meal-sized bags so you only defrost what you need.

Online meat delivery: your questions

What is the best way to buy meat online in the UK?

Choose an online butcher that names every cut and weight, shows the price per kilo, labels fresh and frozen clearly, explains how the meat is kept cold, gives a real address and has independent reviews. Then compare delivery thresholds, not just pack prices.

How is meat kept cold when it is delivered?

We pack every order in an insulated box with ice packs and send it with DPD. Put everything in the fridge or freezer as soon as it arrives.

How much does meat delivery cost?

Weekday delivery to mainland England and Wales is free on orders over £85 and £6.95 under. Saturday delivery is £8.95, or a £3.95 surcharge on orders over £85. Mainland Scotland and the Highlands and Islands: weekday delivery is free over £80 (£6.95 under), and weekend delivery is a flat £11.99. There is no minimum order.

Can I freeze meat that is delivered fresh?

Yes. Freeze fresh meat on the day it arrives, in portions, and defrost it overnight in the fridge before cooking. Products sold frozen are labelled "(Frozen)" in the title; keep those frozen until you need them.

Where is Meatsupermarket.com based?

We are an online butcher at Gwindra Industrial Estate, St Stephen, St Austell, Cornwall PL26 7LE, delivering to most of mainland UK. A few Scottish postcodes are weekday-only or not yet covered; see our delivery page for the list.
