Quick answer: A turkey crown is a whole turkey breast left on the bone, with the legs and wings removed. It is quicker to roast and easier to carve than a whole bird. We don't sell turkey, but we do stock beef, pork and chicken alternatives for Christmas dinner, plus turkey gravy and stuffing.
Closest cuts we stock
We don't sell turkey crown at the moment. These are the closest cuts we do stock:
What is a turkey crown?
The crown is the two breasts still attached to the breastbone, with the legs, thighs and wings taken off. Because it is all white meat on the bone it cooks more evenly than a whole bird, and it suits a smaller Christmas table.
How long does a turkey crown take to cook?
Follow the cooking guide that comes with the crown you buy, as weights and ovens vary. A widely used guide is about 20 minutes per kg plus 70 minutes at 190°C (170°C fan) for crowns under 4kg. Check the thickest part reads at least 75°C on a probe thermometer, rest it covered for 30 minutes, then carve.
Christmas joints we stock instead of turkey
If you want a Christmas centrepiece from us, a beef joint, a pork loin joint with crackling or a big chicken traybake all work. Our Christmas dinner without turkey guide has quantities and timings, and the Christmas meat guide covers how much to order.
