Ingredients
- 4 prime steak burgers (or 400g smash mince rolled into loose balls)
- 4 soft burger buns; 4 slices cheddar or American-style cheese
- Salt and pepper; optional: onion, burger sauce, pickles, lettuce
- Chips to serve
Method
- Heat a heavy pan or flat plate until smoking. Soften buns if you like.
- Place burgers (or mince balls) in the pan; smash flat with a spatula. Season. Cook 1–2 minutes until a deep crust forms.
- Flip; top with cheese; cook 1 minute more until cheese melts and burgers are cooked through.
- Build: bun, sauce, burger(s), onion/pickle, bun. Serve with hot chips.
