Description

NEW & BIGGER!

This 500-600g t-bone steak is 21-day matured, with a tender fillet on one side and sirloin on the other. Named for the T-shaped bone, it is a thick, well-marbled cut for the grill or a hot pan.

Given the size of this steak we’d suggest searing over a high heat in a large pan before transferring to the oven to finish. It’s nice and thick so season it well with salt and coarsely ground pepper beforehand. Cook to your preferred liking, just make sure you allow this beauty to rest before digging in.

This product is frozen, and will arrive at least partially defrosted. Please ensure product is completely thawed before cooking. For best quality, we would recommend cooking within 24 hours. Product is suitable for refreezing.

How much is a steak from our butcher?

Live prices from our Cornwall counter (in-stock packs only): two 6oz sirloins £8.99; two 6oz ribeyes £10.49; two 6oz rumps £8.99; two 6oz fillets £18.99; a 500–600g T-bone £15.99. See steak deals for multi-packs.

Can you buy flank steak in the UK?

Yes. UK butchers often sell flank as bavette. We have not got bavette or flank on our live counter at the moment, and we will not pretend otherwise. For fajitas, stir-fries or steak sandwiches, our Extra Lean Rump Steak Strips 400g (£9.99) come ready-sliced, or buy Rump Steak 2x 6oz (£8.99), cook it hot and slice thinly across the grain.

Do you do steak deals?

Yes — multi-packs and offers sit on our meat deals page. Prices there update from live stock.

What is the best meat for steak?

Beef, and the best steaks come from the back of the animal, where the muscles do the least work. Ribeye is the juiciest, sirloin is the all-rounder, fillet is the most tender and rump gives the most beefy flavour for the money.

What part of beef is best for steak?

The rib and the loin. The rib gives ribeye and tomahawk; the sirloin gives sirloin steaks and the T-bone; the fillet sits underneath the sirloin; and rump comes from the back end. Hard-working cuts such as chuck and shin are better slow-cooked, which is what our braising steak is for.

What is steak?

A thick slice of meat, usually beef, cut across the muscle and cooked quickly over a high heat in a pan, under the grill or on the BBQ. Pork, gammon and lamb steaks are cut the same way.

What goes well with steak?

Chips or new potatoes, grilled tomatoes and mushrooms, onion rings, a green salad or rocket, and a peppercorn or béarnaise sauce.

What goes good on steak?

Salt and black pepper just before cooking, then a knob of garlic butter, a peppercorn sauce, chimichurri or a blue cheese sauce. Try our garlic butter sirloin, rump steak with chimichurri or fillet steak with blue cheese sauce.

What animal is steak?

Steak usually means beef, from cattle. You will also see pork steaks and gammon steaks (cured pork), and lamb steaks, cut the same way from those animals.
