Looking for gifts for a steak lover? Steak gifts are a present that actually gets used and enjoyed, whether it's for a birthday, Father's Day, Christmas or a thank-you. But sending meat isn't like sending socks. It needs to arrive chilled, when someone's in, with room in the fridge or freezer. Here's a butcher's guide to choosing steak gifts, and sending them so they arrive in perfect condition.

The Steak Lover's Gift Box
For the ultimate steak gift, The Steak Lover’s Gift Box centres on a big tomahawk steak, a thick-cut, bone-in ribeye that looks spectacular on the BBQ or in a hot oven, and is made for sharing. Alongside it come rump, sirloin and ribeye steaks, pork loin steaks and steak burgers, for several meals. Point the recipient towards our ultimate steak guide.
The Classic Steak Trio
Classic Steak Trio Box is a tasting box of the three most popular cuts: ribeye (rich and marbled), rump (lean with big flavour) and sirloin (tender, with a strip of fat). It's a perfect gift for a couple, or for someone who wants to find their favourite. See our types of steak guide.
Gift cards: the safe choice
If you're not sure what they like, whether they have freezer space, or when they'll be in, a gift card is the easy answer. Our Gift Cards let them choose their own cuts and delivery day.
Extras that make it special
Add a few extras to turn a box of steaks into a proper present:
- A sauce: Dine- Peppercorn Sauce (£3.20) or Dine - Diane Sauce (£3.60).
- A seasoning: Lumberjaxe Smokehouse Beef Seasoning (100g) (£5.00) for steaks and burgers.
- A side for the roast: Pure Goose Fat 180g (£3.70) for proper roast potatoes or chips.
- Kit from elsewhere: a meat thermometer, a heavy cast-iron pan or a good steak knife.
How to send meat as a gift
Meat is perishable, so plan it like any fresh food delivery.
- Check someone will be in. Our boxes are packed chilled in an insulated box with ice packs, but they need to go into the fridge or freezer promptly. Choose a delivery date when you know they'll be home.
- Check freezer space. A big box needs room.
- Tell them it's coming, unless it's a surprise and you've arranged for someone to take it in.
- Consider dietary needs. Check they eat red meat and pork.
- Include cooking tips. Link them to our guides, like how to cook ribeye steak and how to cook sirloin steak.
See our delivery information. Weekday delivery is free on orders over £85 (£80 in Scotland).
Choosing the right steak gift
Think about who it's for. A keen BBQ cook will love the tomahawk in the Steak Lover's Gift Box; it's a real talking point, and cooking it is half the fun. A couple who enjoy a quiet steak night will get more from the Classic Steak Trio, with enough for three meals. For a small household, or someone with a small freezer, the trio is the more practical choice. For a family, the bigger box gives something for everyone, with burgers for the children. And if you really don't know, a gift card means they can choose anything from mince to a Sunday roast.
When to give steak
- Christmas: a steak box is a great present for the days between Christmas and New Year. Order early. See Christmas meat hampers: what to look for.
- Father's Day: a classic.
- Birthdays and anniversaries: a steak night at home.
- Thank-yous and business gifts: see corporate Christmas hampers.
Tips to share with the lucky recipient
- Thaw in the fridge, never on the worktop.
- Bring steaks to room temperature for 20–30 minutes before cooking.
- Get the pan very hot, season well, and rest the steak for 5 minutes.
- Use a thermometer: about 52–54°C for medium-rare.
- Slice the tomahawk off the bone and share it.
Freezing a steak gift
If they can't eat it all at once, steaks freeze well. Freeze them flat, in their packs or wrapped well, and use within about 3 months for the best quality. Thaw them in the fridge overnight before cooking.
